Street & Sidewalk
A program of the Office of the Controller.
San Francisco’s streets and sidewalks were cleaner in FY16, but graffiti and some sidewalk hazards continued to grow despite additional services.
There were fewer routes with "excessive litter" compared with Fiscal Year 2014-15.
Counts of graffiti increased across the City, particularly on commercial property and public property not maintained by Public Works.
More routes were free of broken glass, but there were more observations and reports of loose needles and feces.
New “hot spots” emerged in some neighborhoods like the Mission, Potrero Hill, SOMA, and Chinatown.
