The San Francisco Controller's Office contracts with JBR Partners to conduct independent evaluations of 183 routes across San Francisco, representing corridors in each Supervisorial District. Two evaluations are conducted for each route every year, and then average scores are for calculated for the whole city each year. These figures are broken out by "Fiscal Years", which reflect the City's public budget cycle beginning July 1 and ending June 30.
You can explore excerpts of this data using the dashboards below, which show average Citywide scores for FY 2015-16 broken out by residential and commercial routes.
There are generally three types of score values in these results:
- Scores for litter, where (1) is the best and (3) is the worst;
- Counts for graffiti, where more is generally worse but there is no maximum; and
- Percent of routes or property meeting some criteria, where 100% is the best and 0% is the worst.
